The Airlock feature provides an enhanced level of traceability for the download of files and/or data tables to a user's local computer. To maintain the integrity of data in a workspace, users must submit a request to download one or more files or data tables. Such requests are managed by users with workspace administrative privileges.
Submitting an Airlock request for a single file
You can select to download an individual file from the Files tab, or an individual data table from the Datasets tab.
Either click to select the content you require from the list and click 'Airlock', or open the file and then select 'Airlock' – the process operates in the same way.
You will be prompted to select whether you want to either download, or copy your file or dataset to another workspace. Select the download option and supply a comment describing the reason for the request (this is a requirement) before submitting the request.
You will now receive a message stating that your request has been received, the relevant Workspace Administrators have been notified, and your request is awaiting authorisation. At this stage, Workspace Administrators can accept or refuse your request.
Submitting an Airlock request for multiple files
To submit a request for multiple assets, navigate to the Summary tab and select 'Airlock' from the right-hand sidebar 'Tools' menu.
Then, using the 'Add a file' or 'Add a dataset' icons, select the files you wish to download from the resulting lists, then click 'Attach Files' or 'Attach Datasets' as appropriate. Datasets will be downloaded as CSV files.

A list of your selected files and datasets will now appear in the dialog. Make sure that you have the correct files and/or datasets. You can remove unwanted files or datasets by clicking the X beside the file names.
You will now be prompted to select whether you want to either download, or copy these assets to another workspace.
Monitoring or commenting on Airlock requests
Airlock requests and their status appear in the workspace activity stream on the Summary tab. You can also filter the activity stream to view pending requests by clicking 'Awaiting authorisation'.
Other workspace members can also leave comments on your request, for example, if they wish to corroborate the requirement for a download.
